Pep Band Auditions
UT Pep Bands bring the energy of Tennessee Bands to football, basketball, and volleyball events throughout the year. These ensembles perform at games, pep rallies, postseason tournaments, and other university events, helping create the Big Orange atmosphere that surrounds Tennessee Athletics.
Football Pep Bands
The University of Tennessee offers two football pep bands: the Orange Pep Band and the White Pep Band. Membership in either football pep band is limited to students who are already members of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band. Auditions for both football pep bands take place during Pride Band Camp in August.
Orange Pep Band
The Orange Pep Band performs at:
- Assigned pep rallies
- Televised broadcasts
- Away game pep rallies
- Bowl trip pep rallies
- Additional university events as scheduled
White Pep Band
The White Pep Band performs at:
- Vol Walk prior to home football games
- Additional university events as scheduled
Basketball Pep Bands
During basketball season, UT Bands offers two pep bands:
- Men’s Basketball Band
- Lady Vols Basketball Band
These ensembles perform at home games throughout the season and frequently travel to SEC and NCAA Tournament events. Auditions for basketball pep bands take place in late October and are open to all current UT students.
Volleyball Pep Band
The Volleyball Pep Band performs at all home volleyball matches during the fall semester.
This ensemble is a select group of 25 members. No audition is required, but instrumentation is determined based on the students who sign up during Band Camp. Sign-up information is typically available at the beginning of the fall semester.
