Graduate Assistantships & Financial Aid
Graduate study is a significant investment, and the University of Tennessee offers a variety of resources to help make your degree attainable. Many wind conducting students receive graduate teaching assistantships that provide financial support while offering valuable hands-on experience in collegiate bands and music education. In addition to assistantships, graduate students may be eligible for scholarships, fellowships, federal financial aid, and other university funding opportunities.

Graduate Student Teaching Assistantships
Competitive graduate teaching assistantships are available for qualified students pursuing the Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting. Assistantships provide financial support while offering valuable hands-on experience within one of the nation’s premier collegiate band programs.
Responsibilities may include conducting ensembles, assisting with athletic bands, supporting instructional activities, coordinating administrative projects, and contributing to the daily operations of the UT Bands program. These experiences are designed to complement graduate study and help students develop the leadership, teaching, and conducting skills necessary for successful careers in music education and conducting.

Natalie L. Haslam College of Music Scholarships
The college has limited scholarships specific to graduate study and all applicants will be considered for these scholarships – no separate application is required.
