Alumni Bands

Stay connected through music and Volunteer tradition.

The University of Tennessee Bands alumni community offers a variety of opportunities to reconnect with fellow Volunteers through performance, special events, and annual traditions. Whether you’re returning to the field with the Pride of the Southland Alumni Band, performing in the Alumni Concert Band, or simply reconnecting with friends and directors, there are many ways to remain part of the Tennessee band family.

Performance Opportunities

Specific event details, registration information, schedules, instrumentation needs, guest conductors, and participation fees will be announced each year.

Alumni Marching Band

With over 4,000 members, the Pride of the Southland Alumni Marching Band is one of the largest and most active alumni groups at the University of Tennessee.

Each year, hundreds of alumni return to Rocky Top to perform at Alumni Band Day, winter pep bands, and the Alumni Concert Band, continuing a legacy of excellence and support.

Alumni Concert Band

The Alumni Concert Band is a special performance ensemble presented in conjunction with UT Bands alumni events and celebrations. Participants rehearse under the direction of current and former UT band faculty, distinguished alumni conductors, and guest artists before presenting a public concert.

  • Open to alumni from all UT Bands ensembles

Holiday Pep Band

All Pride Alumni are encouraged to join the current UT Pep Band to perform at basketball games during our winter break.  ALL alumni are welcome to join us for these games over the holidays!  Games will be limited to the first 90 members who sign up.

Important Notes

  • Meet in the storage area in Thompson Boling Arena (Enter through SW corner under Pratt Pavilion).
  • Parking is available at the Haslam Music Center lot (Please have your uniform on in order to be let into the lot)
  • Dress for games:  Black shoes/socks/pants, Orange polo/golf shirt.  Due to the high number of games, we will NOT be holding any rehearsals.
  • All large instruments (mellos, baritones, sousaphones, percussion) and flip folders will be signed out and returned at the arena during call time.
