Choral Studies Financial Aid

Financial Assistance is available for both undergraduate and graduate students who are accepted to a College of Music degree program and show outstanding musical and academic ability. These awards include choral scholarships, graduate choral conducting scholarships, and graduate choral assistantships.

Choral Scholarships

AmountAn award of $500 – $2000
QualificationsThese awards are limited to undergraduate students who wish to work toward a degree in performance, music education, or sacred music, with a vocal concentration.
Membership in a choral ensemble is required.
Selection CriteriaRecipients of these awards are selected on the basis of their vocal ability and the needs of the University’s choirs.
AuditionsApplicants must complete a College of Music audition.

The Edward H. Hamilton Choral Director Scholarship

AmountAn award of $1000 – $4000
QualificationsThis award is limited to full-time students who wish to work toward a graduate degree in music or music education, with emphasis in choral conducting.
Selection CriteriaRecipients of this award are selected on the basis of:
dedication to professional choral conducting
vocal teaching ability
qualities of music leadership, and
scholarship as evidenced by recommendations and competitive conducting auditions.

Graduate Assistantships in Choral Conducting

AmountStipends of up to $7,950 including tuition waiver and health insurance
ResponsibilitiesAssist with the conducting and administration of University choral ensembles
QualificationsUndergraduate degree in choral music education, sacred music, or voice performance with choral conducting experience
