First-Year Students
Undergraduate admission to the College of Music for all bachelor’s degrees requires two separate applications, which can be completed simultaneously.

Apply via the Common Application or VIP Portal. Visit admissions.utk.edu for more information.
IMPORTANT DATES:
July 1: Application deadline for Undergraduate transfer students
November 1: Application deadline to be considered for competitive scholarships (Chancellor’s Honors Program etc.)
December 16: Final application deadline for Undergraduate freshman students
April 1: Application deadline for Undergraduate international students
Apply to the Natalie L. Haslam College of Music
ALL students who wish to major in any music degree or minor in music MUST apply to the College of Music in addition to applying to the University of Tennessee. You may submit your College of Music application and your University of Tennessee application in any order. Both MUST be submitted. If you have any admissions questions related to the College of Music application process, please email musicadmissions@utk.edu.
AUDITION/INTERVIEW DATES for Fall 2025. Applications to the College of Music are due December 1, 2024 unless otherwise noted. Please remember applications to UT are due December 15, 2024 (see UT Application information above).

Transfer Students
Students transferring to UT from community colleges or other universities must apply to the University of Tennessee and also apply to the Natalie L. Haslam College of Music. As part of the admissions process, you will submit your transcripts for evaluation. Once the evaluation is complete, you will receive a copy of how your classes transfer to UT.

Graduate Students
Graduate students are students who have already graduated with a bachelor’s degree and would like to pursue a master’s degree or graduate certificate. There are several GTA positions available for the 2025-2026 academic year. Graduate admission to the Natalie L. Haslam College of Music for all master’s degrees requires two steps:
Apply to the UT Graduate School
Information on admission procedures can be found on the Graduate School website. Please click HERE for application deadlines for the UT Graduate School. Note the UT Graduate School has differing application deadlines for domestic and international students.
Submit ONLY the following directly to the University of Tennessee Graduate School Admissions Office:
- Graduate Application for Admission
- $60 application fee
- One official transcript from all colleges and universities attended. Transcripts must be official transcripts sent from school to school.
- If you are majoring in musicology, you may submit GRE scores. These are optional and not required.
- If your native language is not English, send official scores from Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
- International students must follow the Admission Guide for International Students
- Please do not submit letters of recommendation to the Graduate School. Letters of recommendation will be collected through the College of Music’s application via GetAccept’d.

ALL students who wish to major in any music degree or minor in music MUST apply to the College of Music in addition to applying to the University of Tennessee. You do NOT need to wait to be accepted to the University in order to apply to the College of Music.
AUDITION/INTERVIEW DATES for Fall 2025. Applications to the College of Music are due December 1, 2024. Some areas require pre-screening materials due on December 15. The areas with pre-screening requirements can be found on the Accept’d application to the UT College of Music. If you have questions about your area’s application deadline date, please contact the head of that area.
