Sean McCollough’s general area of specialty is American music with an emphasis in the music of Appalachia. As part of his graduate studies, he participated in the East Tennessee State University bluegrass program. He teaches Appalachian Music, the History of Rock, Introduction to Music in Western Culture, and directs the UT Appalachian String Band. He plays guitar, claw-hammer banjo, mandolin, and piano. He performs regularly with the modern-folk band, The Lonetones and plays music in schools and other venues for children. He hosts a radio show on WDVX called Kidstuff and is the Saturday host of the WDVX Blue Plate Special. He has multiple albums to his credit as a performer, songwriter, sound engineer and/or producer.
