The Crescendo Living and Learning Community

UT Students at Zoo Knoxville

Increasing your connection to UT and the College of Music!

The Crescendo Living and Learning Community is a special housing area for music majors and minors. Residence in this community is not required for freshmen enrollment in the College of Music.

All music degree programs have a common freshman core, including music theory, ear training, musicology, lessons, solo class, and, of course, ensembles. If you choose to live in the Crescendo LLC, you’ll live on the same residence hall floor with other music students–the same students in many of your classes and ensembles. The opportunity to live with other music students makes it easy to form study groups, help each other with assignments and projects, and walk to and from concerts and events together. In addition to having a practice room in the building, there will be a study room and a tutor available at least once a week to help you with your academic music classes (i.e., music theory, ear training, and musicology). You can participate in all of the programs available to other residence hall students as well as events just for music students. The Crescendo LLC is the perfect place for you to make lifelong friendships!

Requirements for the Crescendo Living and Learning Community

To live in the Crescendo LLC, you must be admitted to the College of Music as a music major or minor (see Undergraduate Auditions & Admission for more information on auditions and admission).

You will also be required to register for a section of FYS 101 designated for Crescendo students in the Fall semester.

If you request a roommate in the Crescendo LLC, your requested roommate must also meet the criteria for and be accepted into the Crescendo LLC.

Interested students should:
