The University of Tennessee’s annual Rocky Top Jazz Summit brings together high school jazz ensembles from throughout Tennessee and beyond to perform, listen, learn, and build community. Open to big bands and combos alike, ensembles perform in the beautiful Natalie L. Haslam Music Center and receive feedback from UT jazz faculty and guest clinicians. The experience also includes masterclasses by UT faculty and a performance by UT jazz students and faculty. This year’s RTJS also features special guest Stephen Lee, founder and artistic director of the Memphis Jazz Workshop. This exciting event connects jazz educators, creates an opportunity to perform for big bands and combos, and inspires students to delve deeper into the great American tradition of swing and improvisation!
Registration fees are $150 for small ensembles (up to twelve students) and $250 for large ensembles (more than 12 students). This fee includes a performance time, clinic, lunch, and access to all masterclasses and performances. Registration is capped at a maximum of ten performing ensembles – register now to reserve your spot!
