Welcome to the UT Trumpet Studio!
Trumpet students at the University of Tennessee study in a dynamic, student-focused environment where individuality, creativity, and versatility are valued. Through personalized instruction and a wide range of performance experiences, students are equipped to become well-rounded musicians, educators, and artists.

Academics
The UT Trumpet Studio includes approximately 15 undergraduate and graduate students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. Students perform regularly in major ensembles – including the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and the Pride of the Southland Marching Band – as well as in trumpet ensembles, brass quintets, quartets, trios, and other chamber groups.
Undergraduate Programs
Students in the Trumpet Studio may pursue a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Music Performance, or Theory & Composition.
The Natalie L. Haslam College of Music also offers Bachelor of Arts in Music concentrations, and BA students have the option to take applied lessons as part of a studio experience.
Graduate Programs
Graduate students may pursue a Master of Music in Music Education or Music Performance with trumpet as their primary area of study.
Graduate Artist Certificate
Designed for highly accomplished performers seeking to refine their artistry, the Graduate Artist Certificate offers advanced study as a stand-alone program.

Meet Arthur Zanin
Arthur Zanin, UT Assistant Professor of Trumpet, has performed in orchestral and chamber music settings in South America, the United States, and Europe. Professor Zanin previously held positions as the Principal Trumpet of the Charlottesville Symphony, Second Trumpet of the Southwest Florida Symphony and has appeared as a guest musician with several orchestras, including the Pittsburgh Symphony, Knoxville Symphony, Sarasota Orchestra, Hawaii Symphony and the Naples Philharmonic. Zanin worked as a freelancer in New York City performing in a variety of recitals, shows, and recordings in prestigious concert venues such as the Lincoln Center and the Kauffman Center.

UT Trumpet Ensemble: A popular weekly ensemble open to all studio members
College Ensembles: Participation by audition in the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Concert Band, and the Pride of the Southland Marching Band
Chamber Ensembles: Opportunities to perform in brass trios, quartets, quintets, and trumpet ensembles of various sizes
Solo and Studio Class: Weekly one-on-one lessons and studio classes focused on performance, pedagogy, and artistic development

Graduate Teaching Assistantships
The Natalie L. Haslam College of Music offers a number of graduate teaching assistantships each academic year.
Assistantships carry a waiver of the university tuition, pays for mandatory university fees, medical coverage, and carries a monthly stipend.
