Austin Orr


Multimedia Manager

Biography

At the College of Music, Austin Orr creates professional multimedia content for use in educational and marketing campaigns. He is also responsible for managing the technology library, consisting of nearly 1,000 pieces of music technology.

For eight years, he has refined his videography and photography skills. Along the way, he also gained experience in radio broadcasting, website development, graphic design, and information technology support. He completed his undergraduate degree in communications at the University of Tennessee in 2022. During that time, he worked with the UT Office of Student Media, the UT Office of Information Technology, Bowman Broadcasting in Middle Tennessee, and did some freelance work.

In the Fall of 2022, he accepted a position at the College of Communication & Information at the University of Tennessee as the Technology Coordinator for the UT Media Center. There, he managed equipment checkouts, trained students to use multimedia technology, and assisted with printing the Daily Beacon Student Newspaper. In this position, he also organized a grant-funded partnership with the Great Smoky Mountains National Park and collaborated on the nationally recognized Red Dead America multimedia project, which promoted UT Professor Tore Olsson’s novel, Red Dead America.

In 2024, he completed a master’s degree in strategic communication and joined the College of Music. In 2025, he began teaching as an adjunct lecturer with the School of Journalism and Media at UT.

His professional interests include videography, photography, writing, and two-dimensional art. He is a big Star Wars and Star Trek fan, and he loves to watch movies. When he’s not taking photos, he enjoys drawing, running, hiking, kayaking, and spending time with his family.
