Biography

Abigail Huntoon is the Academic Program & Faculty Affairs Coordinator for the Natalie L. Haslam College of Music, where she works with the Associate Dean of Academic & Faculty Affairs to manage faculty appointment processes, oversee the scheduling of academic courses each term, and advance curricular change initiatives. Her work applies strategic thinking, collaborative problem solving, and administrative expertise to support the high-quality academic programming and world-class faculty at the college.

Her educational background includes study in the liberal arts at the University of Chicago, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Global Studies in 2018. While at UChicago, she contributed to nonprofit supplementary arts education at public elementary schools, supported various industries in clerical roles, and assisted with electoral and legislative political campaigns. She worked as a corporate immigration paralegal upon earning her degree, serving as a caseworker to provide attentive service to an extensive portfolio of clients. In 2023, she pivoted to higher education administration, bringing a diverse skillset gained by her variety of professional experiences.

Music has played an important role in her life. She studied piano and cello in her youth and was raised with a deep appreciation for the enrichment and transcendence that music provides. Being back in a musical community has allowed her to combine her love of music with growth in the analytical, communicative, and project management skills she has cultivated throughout her career. Although she did not personally attend the UT, she has a rich family history at the university and is proud to serve the Music Vols community.

Outside of work, she enjoys crafting herbal tea blends, experimenting with new recipes, reading from a broad array of books, and spending time outdoors with her retired racing greyhound, Stella.
