Alumni Memorial Building – Cox Auditorium

Located in the Alumni Memorial Building, the James R. Cox Auditorium is one of the University of Tennessee’s primary performance venues. It hosts recitals, ensemble and chamber performances, lectures, and serves as the main stage for the UT Concert Bands.

Knoxville’s Creative Core

The Natalie L. Haslam College of Music is deeply integrated into Knoxville’s cultural landscape. From the historic Bijou Theatre to the contemporary Tennessee Theatre, our students and faculty often perform, collaborate, and curate programs across the city.

Bijou Theatre Collaborations

The historic Bijou Theatre serves as a vibrant venue for a wide array of performances, including our University of Tennessee Opera Theatre productions. Nestled in the heart of downtown Knoxville, the Bijou’s rich heritage and stunning architecture provide an inspiring setting for live performance. Whether it’s music, theatre, or interdisciplinary collaborations, students and faculty bring artistry and innovation to the stage, creating memorable experiences that connect performers and audiences alike. At the Bijou, tradition and creativity meet in every performance.

  • Big Ears Festival: A celebration of boundary-breaking music and avant-garde performances held across downtown venues.
  • Knoxville Opera’s Rossini Festival: A lively street festival transforming Market Square with free opera, jazz, dance, and community artistry.
  • Dogwood Arts Festival: A vibrant springtime tradition showcasing regional art, music, and culture through exhibitions, live performances, and outdoor markets that celebrate East Tennessee’s creative spirit.
