The University of Tennessee-Knoxville School of Music, the UTK Flute Studio and Dr. Maria Castillo, Assistant Professor of Flute would like to invite you to the 2nd edition of the Vols Flute Fest (VFF). Our Festival strives to develop a close and supportive flute community in East Tennessee and surrounding areas by welcoming students, teachers, amateur and professional flutists to join us during this 2-day event.
In our 2021 VFF edition, there will be masterclasses, presentations, flute choir reading sessions, chamber music coachings, concerts and recitals. We are thrilled to have Prof. Alberto Almarza, faculty at Carnegie Mellon University as our guest artist. We’ll also have Jill Bartine, 2nd flute of the Knoxville Symphony and yoga teacher; and Devan Jaquez, new principal flute at the Knoxville Symphony, joining our VFF faculty.
Come join us, bring your flutes and love for music, as we promise an inspiring weekend of community development and music making at the Vols Flute Fest! Early bird registration and Masterclass/Chamber Music application deadlines: October 23rd, 2021.
The Vols Flute Fest, will be following the same COVID guidelines required by the University of Tennessee- Knoxville, https://www.utk.edu/coronavirus/
For the Vols Flute Fest:
- Participants must wear masks during all our VFF events
- Participants must wear masks indoors covering mouth and nose
- When performing, flutists will be social distanced using individual stands
- It is recommended to perform with a flute mask or flute air shield
- Vaccination is strongly encouraged
