Phylis Secrist is originally from Georgia. Married, with one daughter at Northwestern. After teaching positions at East Tennessee State and Radford University, she began teaching at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1981. She is currently a part-time Assistant Professor teaching oboe in the School of Music. She has been Principal Oboe with the Knoxville Symphony since 1974.
