In addition to the policies already stated by UT found at: https://www.utk.edu/coronavirus/, the SOM will be adopting the following:
SOM C-19 Delta Variant Policies:
Recognizing that the Delta variant of COVID-19 is more contagious and spreads through aerosolization but is somewhat mitigated by vaccinated people, the SOM will be adopting the following policies to begin the fall 2021 semester. These policies are until the end of September, but each will receive ongoing evaluation based on local and campus health conditions. Updates and extensions will be sent out as needed. These policies are in addition to those mandated by the University of Tennessee.
In coordination with Dan Smith, our HVAC Engineer, all rehearsals, including brass, wind, and voice, cannot exceed 90 minutes. Outside rehearsals have no time limits.
Masks must be worn at all times in ensembles and lessons except when wind and brass players are playing. Choral and vocal students will be responsible for buying a singer’s mask if they do not have one from 2020-21. Link: mymusicfolders.com Be sure to order black.
Outside rehearsals do not require masks.
As space in rehearsal and private offices allow, students and faculty should be spaced at least 3 feet apart.
The SOM will not require Bell covers.
Faculty and staff can set their own guidelines for meetings with other colleagues and students in their offices. If someone does not follow your preferences, hold the meeting via Zoom. If the issue persists, contact Dr. Jeffrey Pappas: email@example.com
