The Natalie L. Haslam College of Music and Professor Maria Castillo warmly invite you to the 2025 Vols Flute Fest (VFF) — a celebration of all things flute, now in its 6th edition!
Our mission is to foster a close and supportive flute community in East Tennessee and beyond. Whether you’re a student, teacher, amateur, or professional flutist, VFF is for you! Join us for two days of masterclasses, concerts, and flute community.
This year we are thrilled to welcome Terri Sundberg, Professor of Flute at the University of North Texas, as our 2025 Special Guest Artist. An acclaimed performer and dedicated educator, she brings a wealth of artistry and experience that will inspire flutists of every level.

Chamber Music Groups
Would you like to perform in a flute chamber music ensemble during Vols Flute Fest 2025?
To be considered, please submit a video of your playing so we can place you in a group that best matches your level and musical style.
To apply:
- Repertoire: Your choice – an etude or solo piece without accompaniment
- Your video should include both fast/technical and slow/lyrical sections to showcase your range
- Deadline: Friday, November 1st, 11:59 PM
Masterclass Submission
Eight students will be selected to perform in the 2025 VFF Masterclasses with: Dr. Maria Castillo and Professor Terri Sundberg
Winners will perform during the festival and receive a certificate of participation.
To apply:
- Submit a video performance of the piece (or specific movement) you’d like to present in the masterclass
- No accompaniment required
- Include the name of the piece and the composer in your submission
- Video size limit: 10GB
- Deadline: Friday, November 1st, 11:59 PM

Minors Information
All registered minors can be joined by one adult for no extra charge. Accompanying adults must get a VFF name tag at the registration table to enter events.
