UT Singers
UT Singers is an a cappella group comprised of students from multiple majors across campus. Performing a variety of music from R&B, pop, oldies, and rock, the group can be seen in on campus choral concerts, private and corporate parties, UT alumni and donor events, sporting events, International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella competitions, and VOLcappella featuring Avi Kaplan! A cornerstone performance of the year is the annual Homecoming Concert on the Friday evening before the Saturday Homecoming football game in which many UT Singers alumni return and enjoy a performance of the current group.
UT Singers is the oldest vocal ensemble on the UT campus, and was the original choral ensemble in what was then the Department of Music. Its roots date back to the 50s and and has been named Tennessee's Musical Ambassadors by the Tennessee General Assembly. UT Singers started as a traditional choral ensemble, then, through the years, incorporated a show choir element, then became a jazz choir, and now, an a cappella group.
UT Singers has a long line of distinguished and cherished alumni, and it is a rare occurrence that you do not meet at least one of them at any UT event!
