Tuba/Euphonium

The Tuba/Euphonium Studio at University of Tennessee is an active and dynamic studio in the College of Music. With two large concert bands, a select wind ensemble, two jazz big bands, numerous jazz combos, and a large and challenging orchestra program, studio members have all the large ensemble opportunities they could ever want. Additionally, there are brass quintets, the UT tuba/euphonium ensemble, and various tuba/euphonium quartets.

Our College of Music population of less than 400 students provides opportunities which are only offered by some of the larger conservatories of music, while our large and professional faculty allows for a great deal of personal attention, both in studio and integrated performance situations.

Each student gets a weekly private lesson and participates in our weekly studio solo classes. The lessons are completely customized for the current needs and future goals of each student, to ensure maximum individual success. The solo classes combine solo performances, technique classes, guest masterclasses and a lot more, to round out the studio experience. Beyond lessons and solo classes, students are encouraged to drop by Dr. Lapins’ office any day to ask follow-up questions or pursue professional conversations in-person.

Our Graduates

Graduates of the Tuba/Euphonium Studio of the University of Tennessee have gone on to pursue diverse careers in the professional music world. Many are currently teaching, some at the public school level, some in community colleges, and some at the university level. Alumni also include members of professional bands, orchestras, and brass quintets.
