Aamir Walton
Senior Director of Advancement
Biography
Aamir Walton has more than 11 years of experience in higher education fundraising, serving institutions ranging from private liberal arts colleges to Power 4 conference universities. His connection to music began early but was cut short after two years when his family could no longer afford lessons. Today, as a first-generation college graduate, Aamir considers it a profound blessing to provide music education opportunities for his own children.
Aamir’s career in philanthropy was shaped by early professional setbacks that ultimately became formative experiences. Having personally benefited from philanthropic support from elementary school through earning his undergraduate degree at Grinnell College, he understands firsthand the transformative power of generosity. He later earned a master’s degree in public administration with an emphasis in executive leadership from Drake University. For Aamir, fundraising is not simply a profession but a calling rooted in gratitude and purpose.
He lives by the “5 Ts” of philanthropy: Treasure, Time, Talent, Ties (network), and Testimony, believing that everyone has something meaningful to give. Originally from Chicago, Aamir and his wife, Robin, now live in Louisville, Tennessee, with their three children: Aaliyah (11), Obadiah (10), and Emmanuel (3). Together, Aamir and Robin serve as Family Life Pastors at RIO Unity Church in Alcoa, Tennessee. Outside of his professional work, Aamir is most passionate about investing in the next generation and pouring into young disciples of Christ.
