Becca Smith is a second-year Graduate Teaching Assistant in Choral Conducting. She graduated magna cum laude dfrom Roberts Wesleyan College with a bachelor of science degree in music education. While at Roberts, she was vicepresident of choral activities, assistant coordinator of the local All-County Conference, section leader of the Women’s Choir and Roberts Wesleyan Chorale, and was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Kappa honor society. Ms. Smith studied choral conducting with David Chin. After graduating in December of 2014, she was a substitute teacher in the local districts and worked at the Special Event and Audition Coordinator for the Roberts Wesleyan Music Department. She has conducted the Roberts Wesleyan Chorale, Churchville Chili’s Concert Choir, Mixed Choir, and Elementary Choir, ‘Off the Beat’ a cappella group, and assisted with the New Covenant Community Choir. Ms. Smith has had students participate in various conferences and honor choirs including All-County, Area-All State, All-State, and the Nationals.
She is a member of the American Choral Directors Association.
Hannah Berkley is a first-year Graduate Teaching Assistant pursuing a master’s degree in Choral Conducting. A native of Knoxville, she graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor of music degree in vocal music education, summa cum laude. Ms. Berkley serves as the Associate Director of Worship and Arts at Concord United Methodist Church where she oversees three children’s choirs in addition to directing the Chorister Choir, children’s handbell ensemble, and creative arts rotations. Her choral experience includes singing with UT’s Concert Choir and Chamber Singers along with the Church Street United Methodist Church Parish Youth and Adult Choirs, as well as assistant to the Primary and Chorister Choirs. She has conducted the Maryville High School and Maryville Junior High School ensembles at their respective choral festivals. Ms. Berkley is a member of the American Choral Directors Association and the Tennessee Music Educators Association.
